Was Striker Embarrassed 2 weeks ago?

Two Saturdays ago (16th Mar. 13) at Turffontein, Pierre Strydom won Race 3 on Tiger Dee. As 2nd or 3rd fave it paid a nice little win bet! (Typically I wasn’t on him again. When I back him he doesn’t even place, when I don’t he wins..? A bit like when one backs AP McCoy in the UK!).

I don’t know if anyone actually noticed what happened in the post race interview for that Race 3 though? The commentator asked about his previous ride in Race 2 on Passionate Kiss.
My local Tote was a bit noisy (with its 5 only horse racing and about 5000 soccer punters), but the little bit I could hear I swear I heard that Striker was almost embarrassed & seemed to query as to why & how his 13/20- ON favourite was beaten into 5th place by an assortment of 10/1 and 33/1’s??? He seemed to imply as to “how does this happen”?  Which is exactly why, dear fellow punters, I started this bloody Blog!
See jpeg below of race result:
Out there in the trenches all of us are taking a constant hiding! Sure PA, J/pot and Pick 6 pools are pretty much the same week-in and week-out, year-in, year-out; but when they do pay anything decent it's seldom collected by us normal Joes on the floor.
I would love to see industry figures on the split between horse & soccer betting at the moment, cos those soccer punters are the only ‘real feet’ in the Totes currently. Horse racing in SA has GOT to become honest, true and just vaguely consistent sometime soon please?

Then that fiasco the next day (17th Mar.13) in KZN with the punters almost rioting!?
What an embarrassment, I hope the rest of the world wasn’t watching too closely?
Come on people, we’re not Ngong or Zimbabwe!?
Next time fellas, GO STORMERS tonight!

The smallpunter returns! (Henry Higgins didn't..?)

I have sometimes begun these occasional Blog postings with a hearty “Hello Punters”, but it has occurred to me that the few ‘privileged’ African Betting Clan subscribers who actually read this blog are NOT typical punters. Few would know the inside of a Tote these days as they sit in the luxury of their front rooms playing big bets via the www while punishing either their pension or inheritance monies on their flashy gold cards!?

So there will be no pleasantries as I take this opportunity to comment on something that happened a fortnight ago. I  may not be the first out of the blocks when it comes to having my say, but I do have a life outside of making about 15 blog postings in the last 10 months! At least I do have something honest to say though, 'ey Titch? (One other really observant ABC user & apparent industry sycophant [look it up son] actually commented on the few amounts of ‘views’ my Blog had received. He was using that as a measure of my apparent lack of knowledge on the subject when I raised the subject of the my last post: “The Million Rand Quartet”).

My aim, now in 2013, with this Blog is to get to the support of regular and more normal punters out there, but in the meantime I will continue to pester and annoy, with real racing facts, people like hibs, so dumb (sorry- soodum) and tommy hotspur. (BTW tommy- if the second part of your name is in anyway connected to the great football side, remember us proper Spurs fans are mostly  upstanding ‘white collar’ folk and not knuckle dragging Neanderthals like yer’self!)
Can I offer sympathies for the guys who did their tom on Henry Higgins (#18 in the last) on Tuesday who was beaten by the No. 6 (Juglall again..?) that no one backed and helped push to a nearly R800k- Pick 6 C/Over! When I read the guys tips on ABC in the morning I think one chap said he was putting 2 grand on Higgins! (Was that you Titch studying your form, or maybe hibernia..?)

As smallpunter, my combined R100.00 bets on swingers, exacta and QT for that race lost me R43, also because of the #6! (So a R2k loss- OUCH!?). Incidentally it also threw out everyone else in my Tote on all their bets for the day involving that race. So not just me then…

This posting already too long now.

Take care, smallpunter
