THE MILLION RAND QUARTET!?

THE MILLION RAND QUARTET!? (2012 Summer Cup)
Winning a bet on SA horse racing is now ‘officially’ as improbable as winning the National Lottery’s Powerball on a Tuesday or Friday night..?

Forgive me for rounding-off again punters, but I think most won’t mind the R58k odd grand between R941k and an even MILLION in my blog heading! I’m sure you’ll agree the actual staggering amount of this Quartet pay out is more the issue at hand than my rounding it off to a Million. Bearing in mind that the difference of R58k would, in normal circumstances, actually be a very big QT pay out in itself...
The main issue with me posting about these huge upsets is that no one in the industry seems to comment about these dubious decisions after the fact. Fair enough, the race has gone, the pay outs collected by ‘one or two’ lucky punters (only) and the rest of us have done our tom!
Why rant & whinge I hear you say, why indeed..?

Jackson- 4th  last in the July (18/10-F; remember..?)- the pay outs were also huge there!
Mujaarib 12th in last weekend’s Summer Cup- three donkeys in the top four! Result- probably the biggest QT ever in this country, R941,509.60!? (By comparison Race 2 QT paid R45.60! Seem legit to you guys..?)

These are just 2 examples of more & more dodgy results in recent times, but bear in mind that these are two of the top 3 races in our entire racing calendar! Message to the ‘Fat Cats’ in SA racing- think you’re attracting more people to the sport, I think not boys! As I’ve said before, just look around the local totes and ignoring the long queues of Nigerians placing R5.00 soccer bets; try and spot the horse racing punters- not many, and I’ll wager you anything on that.
In my trip around the Cape yesterday, the 3 Totes I went into were like morgues!
smallpunter did about R400.00 (way too much for him!) on the meeting and the feature race, with various bets and all-to-comes and came away with Zack/Nought/Nada! Thanks Glenn Hatt.
The other race he started as favourite also had a big QT- R51k!!!
Reminder to all- this is horse racing, NOT the bloody Lotto!

R66k PA, R1,73m P6 to 1.86 tickets only, a R941k Quartet- don’t think we’ll see the like of these again chaps..? Oh, I forget, this is racing 'African-style'- should only be a month or two for us to see new records being set...

Bloody Crooks- the whole lot of them!

Au revoir, smallpunter

THE R500 SWINGER!? SA HORSERACING HITS NEW PEAK!

Hello fellow punters?

Well, almost two months since my last blog, and believe me that was not because pay outs in horse racing have suddenly gone back to some sort of normality..? There have still been some absolute shockers in the last two months, but to be honest one kinda got sick of ranting on about the 'rip-off' status of our racing/betting industry
I'm not in the least bothered by the comments/replies from the African Betting Clan (big, broad shoulders, me...) and the majority of the guys apparently 'blind loyalty' to this activity some of us used to enjoy, but which has now become a one-way "crook-fest" of note!

There was another ludicrous R48k Grand PA at Kenilworth during OCT., then on the 31st the record breaking, nearly, R500.00 Swinger. (forgive me for rounding-off, but these preposterous pay outs deserve grandiose highlighting- it's only R15.80 short of R500, but let me remind you- this is a bloody SWINGER pay out!!!). I might be a lightweight compared to some of the 'ol Glenfiddich imbibers out there, bit I have NEVER, EVER seen a swinger pay out of this size..?

If it's a bet you don't normally play compare the SW & Exacta payouts in this 'dodgy' Race 5 to the pay outs in Race 4 above it in photo 2.  I bet the respective connections collected though?

As I've said many times before, and fully understand, we seasoned punters expect upsets but the last 6 months of this year have been laughable in the extreme! (except most punters I know, and me, are not laughing- crying more like it, blubbing like a baby, in fact!) And I haven't even started on the Summer Cup!? All the best of luck lads, 'cos studying form counts for sh.t these days!
